His name has been recommended for the post by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra to the government. As per convention, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court is appointed the Chief Justice of India and Justice Ranjan Gogoi by virtue of his seniority should be next in line. He is expected to take oath on October 3.   SPORTS On 2ndSeptember 2018, Asian Games 2018 India achieved its highest ever medal tally at the Asian Games.
